Highschoolers Take on the Adventure Learning Course

Last week, our PE teachers took several High School classes to the Adventure Learning Course behind campus, and it was a great way to spend 7th and 8th periods!
Adventure Learning uses physical and problem-solving challenges in an outdoor setting to build teamwork, trust, communication, and adaptive thinking. Some challenges stretch students physically, others stretch them emotionally, and all of them teach students to solve problems as a team, face their fears, and navigate obstacles while building confidence in both mind and body.
Students warmed up with icebreaker games, then moved on to suspended logs and ropes courses. In one activity, teams had to work together to get from one platform to another using only two wooden planks and limited tools. Success depended on planning the best path and helping each other along the way.
Throughout the afternoon, students were recognized for effort, following directions, participation, sportsmanship, and safety. These are skills that matter as our students develop more independence and improve their communication skills.
We’re thrilled to offer this program right here on our campus! Ask your High Schooler about the course. They may have a story or two to share!
